They reunited on screen for TBS’s “Miracle Workers: Dark Ages” in 2021. The couple formed an immediate connection while working together and have been together for a decade. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they quarantined together.
Radcliffe stated in March 2022 that they have a happy relationship. Here is a timeline of their relationship from their early days on screen.
In Kill Your Darlings, when Radcliffe portrayed a teenage Allen Ginsberg, the two met on the set. In the movie, Ginsberg and Darke’s character had a fleeting flirtation before having a private rendezvous in a library.
The Jungle actor and Darke were first seen together while promoting Kill Your Darlings at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. “She was stroking his knee at their VIP table”, the source told US Weekly at the time, adding that “they were affectionate much of the night.” After they left the venue, they were a little more noticeable.”
Later that year, during an interview on ‘Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen’, Radcliffe confirmed their connection. When a caller enquired as to whether he was dating someone, the Lost City actor responded, “Yes, I am dating someone.” “And I have a private type, which is also my type. I like smart people.”
At the 2014 Tony Awards, the pair made their red-carpet entrance. At the time, Radcliffe was nominated for Best Revival of a Play for his performance as the title character in The Cripple of Inishmaan on Broadway.
Radcliffe stated why his friendship with the Dietland actor is so successful after exclusively told Us Weekly that he was “definitely” his best buddy. “That is, I believe, the kind of relationship I have always hoped to have with a partner. You want to be great friends with that person “said he. “In Erin’s case, we very certainly are.”
A video of Radcliffe and Darke performing “The Real Slim Shady” by Eminem at karaoke went viral, and at the end of the video, the duo can be seen smiling and kissing. During a guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October 2014, the Victor Frankenstein actor admitted, “I was infatuated with [Eminem].” I believe I was the first student in my class to memorize the entire lyrics of “Real Slim Shady.”
In January 2018, the former child star provided some additional context for his friendship with Darke by admitting that she was a huge admirer of the beard he had to grow for the Miracle Workers premiere. In fact, she doesn’t mind, Radcliffe exclusively revealed to Us. “I guess my beard is soft and doesn’t itch, so that’s excellent. But even by her standards, I believe it was a little bit too lengthy.”
Early on in the COVID-19 outbreak, speculations spread on social media claiming Radcliffe had tested positive for the virus. The Swiss Army Man star was forced to officially refute the claims. He and Darke had been spending their time in much more realistic ways in reality: She admitted to keeping track of how many days they had been quarantined, saying, “We decided to be super-responsible and self-quarantine so we haven’t walked outside the flat in… 11 days?”
Radcliffe continued: “We are both in a position where we couldn’t be happier about not having children or angrier about not having a dog. But generally speaking, we are doing very, very well compared to a lot of folks.”
When Radcliffe joined Darke to a New York screening of The Lost City, it was their first red carpet appearance together in almost ten years.
Darke went with her boyfriend to the Weird: The Al Yankovic Story premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Prior to the film’s premiere, Radcliffe, who plays the title role in the Weird Al biopic Weird, was open about the “absurdity” of the production and how some viewers could react to it. According to Radcliffe, who noted that Darke had previously seen the movie, “Actually, after [director] Eric [Appel] and Al [Yankovic], the people I’m most worried about their reaction are probably my in-laws, Erin’s dad and brother, because they’re also great fans.”
