Creating a better office atmosphere can help improve employee morale. A quality workspace leads to a less stressful and more productive atmosphere. Employers must take the physical work environment of their employees into consideration.

By some estimates, employees spend a third of their lives in the office, and to find and retain top talent it’s important to provide them an environment that lets them work, think and collaborate naturally.

Upgrade Office Furniture

No one wants to sit on a broken chair or at a ratty desk. The office should be comfortable.  The use of correct ergonomics can lessen muscle fatigue, increase productivity and reduce the severity of musculoskeletal disorders.

Investing in high-quality office furniture in Sydney shows your commitment to your employees. Employees want to know that you believe in them and support them. When employees feel comfortable and content in their workspace, they are more likely to remain with the company for the long term.

By prioritizing quality when you furnish or remodel your office can significantly reduce replacement costs and ultimately save money.

Air Quality

The quality of air in an office can have a significant impact on employees. Research studies have shown that when fresh air was increased in work areas, there was an 11% increase in productivity.  The addition of fresh air and the reduction of pollutants play a vital role in maintaining and encouraging employee morale and productivity.

Sick building syndrome is very real and can affect buildings that do not have good air handling systems and practices. The mysterious symptoms suddenly vanish when the affected person exits the building. Providing fresh air can reduce sick days and reduce the incidence of illness that might keep someone out of work.

Simple things like opening windows, adding green plants or plant walls and using an air filtration system can greatly enhance air quality.

Water

Water consumption helps improve sleep quality and energy levels. It also promotes clarity of mind alertness and awareness. These are vital factors when trying to work, think or plan.

You should provide a source of safe drinking water and encourage your employees to use it. Educating your employees on the benefits of drinking water will pay dividends in the long run.

Nourishment

If you want your employees to feel energized, focused and productive, you will want them to eat a nutritious balanced diet.  Bodies don’t do well without food that supplies them with the nourishment they need. Encourage your employees to eat better.

  • Improve the availability of fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Limit access to processed foods
  • Promote healthy food options over unhealthy ones
  • Foster mindful eating habits – create a dedicated eating space

Light

One study showed that employees seated within 10 feet of a window reported an 84% decrease in eye strain, headaches, and blurred vision symptoms.

Providing more natural light as well as task lighting can improve your workspace and employee performance.

Office design is a valuable business investment. Workplace layout that considers air quality, lighting, and views of nature can significantly impact satisfaction and staff productivity.
