French professional footballer Benjamin Mendy represents Manchester City in the Premier League as a left-back. He participated in the national team competition for France from 2017 to 2019.
Mendy graduated from Le Havre’s youth program and began his playing career with the club’s reserve squad in 2010.

His previous release conditions barred him from having home parties, so his plea for bail was rejected. Manchester City suspended him in the interim. Mendy appeared in court on September 10 and was granted custody.

Mendy entered a not-guilty plea on May 22 in relation to six complainants’ allegations of seven rapes, one attempted rape, and one sexual assault. A second rape complaint was made against Mendy on June 1 by a new plaintiff.
The trial began in Chester Crown Court on August 10, 2022. Mendy was charged with eight rapes, one attempted rape, and sexual assault.
For each charge, he filed a not-guilty plea. The jury, which had to certify that none of its members had any connection to Manchester City, Manchester United, or the police, was composed of eight men, six women, and two alternates.
Benjamin Mendy Was Found Not a Rape Guilty
On January 13, 2023, juries unanimously found Mendy and Matturie not guilty of all allegations; Mendy was exonerated of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, while Matturie was exonerated of six counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
On June 26, 2023, Mendy will go on trial once more for an additional charge of rape and an additional charge of attempted rape that the same jury was unable to find guilty on.
